We all have met or know someone who has been affected by blood cancer, it is a very stressful time full of uncertainty. Research is expensive, development of new treatment options is a long & exhaustive process. Hiking through the Inca Trail at altitude toward Machu Pichu will be tough going, but no where near as mentally & physically demanding comparing to those battling blood cancers.
Research & clinical trials have allowed modern medicine to achieve excellent cure rates for childhood ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia), the most common paediatric malignancy. This isn't solely attributed to new drugs being developed, but more as a result of scientific research investigating the use of exisiting drugs in different combinations & different routes of administration. Funded scientific research has allowed us to treat leukaemia smarter & more effectively by using what we already have. It also has allowed us to reduce the longer term affects of treatment so patients who survive go on to live normal and happy lives.
I have for many years raised thousands of dollars for the Leukaemia Foundation by doing the World's Greatest Shave and have played a central role in treating children with blood cancers at PMH. But now its time for me to step it up and I would love your support!
I would be really greatful if you could support me in supporting those fighting blood cancers. Remember any pledge of support is tax deductable :)
Cheers legends and stay tuned for social fundraising events coming up!
