On the 12th of February 2016, my boyfriend Will Morrell was diagnosed with a combination of Acute Lymphoblastic and Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. It broke my heart when I found out someone so kind, loving, generous and thoughtful could be dealt such devastating news.
It has been a massive challenge for all concerned, especially Will. He has shown incredible bravery dealing with the disease, chemotherapy, radiation, countless drugs and all the horrible side effects. I liken his journey to a marathon, set on a long gruelling course, with many obstacles and uncertainties.
His friends, family and I want to be there every step of the way, and our thoughts will be crossing that finish line. Close friend Andrew Morris and I have decided to run a 42KM Marathon with Will in our hearts. Unlike Will we can prepare ourselves, do the training and on race day start at a pace we are comfortable with.
If we feel the need, we can slow down, get help, and have drink breaks, even stop and walk. Will is not so fortunate, he cannot stop, and he has to muster all of his strength and determination to get the job done, finishing a winner.
We have entered to run in Melbourne’s 2016 Marathon on Sunday the 16th October. Will is our motivation, our coach and our inspiration.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation, which will help to provide research funding and ensure a better life for people like Will.
We ask for your donations to sponsor us, Will is going to beat this monster and here is your chance to help him and others to fight this disease, let’s do it together.
