A very big thank you to those of you who have already dug deep and sponsored me. If you are someone who has been meaning to - but just hasn't gotten around to it - now is the time....
Our team head of in just over two weeks time. So your support is really appreciated. Thank you in advance (and a big thank you to the wonderful people who have sponsored me already!)
As a lot of you know I have the privilege to work for an organisation that does amazing work to help people and their families and carers who have been diagnosed with blood cancer.
I've been at the Leukaemia Foundation for over 4 years now - and over that time I have had the great fortune to meet some of the most wonderful people on this planet. This includes our wonderful fundraisers who go to great lengths to help raise money for us. These are often people who have suffered great personal loss, have overcome enormous health issues and people who love and support those people as well. I get to see such resilience, love and vulnerability on a daily basis - how blessed am I!
I am also in the unique position of calling the wonderful people who work here at the Foundation my friends. Our Blood Cancer Support staff work tirelessly with patients and their carers to make their journey as good as it can be, whether that be to help regional families out with accommodation in the big smoke, assisting with transport to medical appointments or simply being an ear to listen, a voice to help or a shoulder to lean on. Trust me these guys are fabulous.
So in May 2017 I have the honour of accompanying some of our wonderful fundraisers to climb this big hill in Africa (photo above) and I would like to join them in raising some money to help fund the incredible work that the Leukaemia Foundation does while I'm at it (hey this is what I do for a living - so I'm assuming my friends will help me out here!).
Some of you have known me for a short time (lucky you) and some for a longer time (your call on how lucky that is!), but many of you might know that less than a decade ago to even concieve of the idea that I would be doing this would have been absurd! Well - times they have a changed - and I'm a going to do it! So please dig deep and show some financial support to help me out.
Here are a few facts you might like to know:
Today, 35 Australians will get the news they have blood cancer. That's another 35 reasons to support the Leukaemia Foundation's work – providing practical and emotional support to people facing the challenge of blood cancer, as well as investing in vital research to find better treatments and cures. Across Australia, 60,000 people are going through this in right now - please sponsor me and help me reach my goal.
Thank you!
