On March 20, 2008 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Follicular Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, a diagnosis which profoundly impacted on my life. Doctors appointments, blood tests , scans and hospital visits became a way of life. My treatment plan consisted of 4 months of chemotherapy, a stem cell harvest and a drug given every 2 months for the next 2 years. The Leukaemia foundation was a key resource in providing much needed support and knowledge throughout my treatment and beyond. Currently 8 years in remission and enjoying good health, I recognise I have been given a second chance at life. The experience has shifted my perspective on life and it has become my passion to raise awareness and funds for blood cancer research and treatment. I look forward to taking part in the Kilimanjaro challenge and giving back to an organisation which gave so much to me.
