★ 535 Half Marathons In A Row ★
On December 27th I'll start a challenge of running 535 consecutive half marathons in memory of Andrew Cadigan. I'll be running one half marathon a day (21.1km) until June 14th 2019, totalling 11,288.5 kilometres.
The reason behind the 535 days is that’s the same amount of time it took Cad to walk solo around Australia during his epic trip from 2010-2012. I’ll be leaving on the same date he did back then and finishing on the same date, June 14th. I figure if he can withstand what he did for 18 months then surely I can run 21.1 kilometres a day.
I'm aiming to raise $1 for every kilometre I cover over the 535 days.
When I first purchased the book 'With Every Step' I could not put it down. As sad and as tragic as it is I think it’s incredibly inspiring and a good reminder that life can be very short. I think Cads story resonated with me so much because he pushed his body and mind to the limit all to honour a mate and for a greater cause. I love what he was willing to put himself through physically, mentally and emotionally. I think it was an incredible gesture and I love the fact that his legacy still remains strong. Even after his death the fundraising efforts he initiated are still going really well today. That’s a great indication of a leaving a lasting legacy which is what, in my eyes, life is all about.
