In June 2019 I will be travelling to China for a 5 day trek along The Great Wall to help raise much needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation. My dad was diagnosed with an incurable blood cancer (Multiple Myeloma) in late 2014. I have decided to take action by joining the Leukaemia Foundation on their Trek to Beat Blood Cancer to help raise funds for reasearch and vital support while leaving many of my footsteps along the Great Wall.
Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma are all types of blood cancer (covered by the Leukaemia foundation), and 35 Australians are diagnosed every day. Although improved treatments and care are helping more people survive, sadly someone loses their life to blood cancer every two hours. Blood cancer is the third most common cause of cancer death in Australia.
As part of this incredible Beat Blood Cancer Great Wall Challenge I will follow the footsteps of the past along the Great Wall of China. It's an experience that's nothing short of amazing—traveling through history to the heart of China’s ancient culture, and one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Over five days, I’ll challenge myself like never before as I trek between mist-covered mountains, into local villages, across rolling farmlands and through dense forest.
Best of all, I am hoping to raise vital funds for the Leukaemia Foundation to provide families fighting blood cancer with the emotional and practical support they need.
Please donate and support my trek across the Great Wall of China.
All funds will go directly to the Leukaemia Foundation to provide families fighting blood cancer with the emotional and practical support they need, as well as support to drive rapid advancements in blood cancer research. I understand that not everyone is in a position to donate but please feel free to share this around as any support, big or small, is hugely appreciated x
