My Message
On the evening of Saturday 10 October, my family are taking part in Light the Night in memory of a very special family member we lost in June to acute leukemia.
Joe was/is the love of my sister Cait's life. An incredible father to Olive and Felix. A much loved son, brother, uncle, brother in law, friend, teacher, chef. An all round amazing human, and someone we were so privileged to have in our lives. We miss him each and every day.
We are conscious of the effect the COVID pandemic may have had on families financially. If you are unable to make a financial donation, there are other ways you can help people with blood cancer.
Sign up to be a blood donor (https://www.donateblood.com.au/). People with blood cancer rely heavily on blood transfusions through-out their treatment. Joe himself was an regular blood donor until his diagnosis.
Join the bone marrow donor registry (https://www.abmdr.org.au/). Joe had two bone marrow transplants during his journey and we are forever thankful to his donor.
Lastly, we would love this page to be shared amongst your networks to raise awareness and shine a light on blood cancer.
Where do the funds raised during this event go? This is outlined below by the Leukemia Foundation:
Funds raised through this special event provide families facing blood cancer with the care needed to make it through every scary, uncertain moment that follows a diagnosis.
Donations also transform fear into hope in miraculous, life-changing ways by furthering the work of brilliant research scientists.
This research is saving lives right now as it continues to discover faster diagnostics and even better treatments for people with blood cancer.
With heartfelt thanks from those that loved Joe x
