My story
On March 28th I woke up with what it felt like I was having a heart attack. I was then taken to hospital and from an X-ray they found a 9cm mass suffocating/collapsing my right lung. From this, April 14th I was told 95% sure Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The following day they found another mass, to then undergo a bone marrow biopsy to find it was also in my bone marrow. It then was confirmed and I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 4. I still to this day question why me... But from it I’ll take a lot. The most important being I have the most amazing, strong and supportive family and friends, to always get a second opinion on even the minor of health issues, it’s showed true friends, as I feel the ones I thought cared the most - didn’t! That even just a check in “how are you” can change your day and that it is ok to cry, as, I’ve never felt such emotions in my whole life - emotions I don't wish on anyone. I have definitely realised that your mental game is everything and that you should always be your beautiful self.
20th of July I finished my treatment, to then go on and here the words "COMPLETE METABOLIC RESPONSE" on the 12th of August. People say I’m so sorry etc but I consider myself lucky! Lucky to have beaten it and to get back to doing the things I love 💜
My story would have been completely different as I was told if I hadn't found the mass when I did - in a months time, it would have been to aggressive and wouldn't have responded to the treatment.
Looking back on the night of the 28th of March and how it all unfolded. I definitely believe someone is looking over me!
On the evening of Saturday 10 October, I am taking part in Light the Night because blood cancer has touched my life.
Funds raised through this special event provide families facing blood cancer with the care needed to make it through every scary, uncertain moment that follows a diagnosis.
Donations also transform fear into hope in miraculous, life-changing ways by furthering the work of brilliant research scientists.
This research is saving lives right now as it continues to discover faster diagnostics and even better treatments for people with blood cancer.
Please help me reach my goal and sponsor me to Light the Night.
