My Message
Hello, my name is Winston and I was a normal 11-year-old boy going to school. I enjoyed playing sports, and hockey and basketball were my favorites until on the 6th of May 2020 I was diagnosed with T-acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. This year was really tough, and even tougher when my doctor said that I had blood cancer. I thought going to the hospital was going to be ok, but I realised that things were going the opposite way around. I was becoming sicker every day. That is when I was moved to an Intensive Care Unit, and it was a very worrying time for my family. Though I have spent periods of time in isolation for cancer treatment, being in isolation again due to COVID-19 has been challenging. I met a few friends that had blood cancer too. I thought it was good to have friends around. Experiencing this was very hard, but I managed to get through with lots of support.
On the evening of Saturday 10 October, I am taking part in Light the Night because blood cancer has affected my life and I hope that others with going through the same problems will have as comfortable a journey as possible.
Funds raised provide families facing blood cancer with the care needed to make it through every scary, uncertain moment that follows a diagnosis.
Donations also transform fear into hope in miraculous, life-changing ways by helping scientists research blood cancer.
This research is saving lives right now as it continues to discover faster diagnostics and even better treatments for people with blood cancer.
Please help me reach my goal and sponsor me to Light the Night.
Thank you!
Winston
