I’m helping to beat blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave!
Hey everyone!
This year I will be taking part in the World's Greatest Shave, hoping to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Every day another 47 Australians are diagnosed with a blood cancer. That's one Aussie every 31 minutes. Although research is improving, sadly an Australian loses their life to blood cancer every two hours.
Every donation will help me meet my goal of $4000, which will go towards funding vital research and improving the lives of those affected.
As my hair is too short to donate for wigs, I will be shipping my clippings to Sustainable Salon, where they will be transformed into compost and floating booms to absorb oil spills in the ocean. Sustainable Salons is a comprehensive resource recovery service that collects up to 95% of waste from hair salons, including hair, metals and chemicals. It is Australia’s number one collector and donor of ponytails for wigs, and all recycling proceeds are donated to charitable organisations.
In 2015, a close friends mother sadly lost her battle with this deadly cancer. I will be doing this shave in honour of Kirsty, and everyone else who has been affected by this deadly disease.
All donations are greatly appreciated!
