I’m helping to beat blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave!
L-E-U-K-A-E-M-I-A… a pain in the ass to spell and honestly, a pain in the ass full-stop (ain’t that the understatement of the century). Today there are approximately 110000 Australians living with blood cancer or a related blood disorder and the effects not only burden the individual but ripple into the lives of their families, friends, and communities. Currently, it is estimated that 15 people lose their lives every day due to these cancers/disorders, however, this is something that we can change.
This year, on the 17th of March, I will be shaving my head in the hopes of raising $10000 as a part of the GCUH Haemotology Team for the Leukaemia Foundation. Yes, you heard me. These beautiful, luscious, golden, angelic, heavenly, gorgeous strands of mine are going kaput. At least from my head. I will be donating my hair to another wonderful charity where it will hopefully be made into a wig worthy of the individual it is given to.
Now $10000 is no number to be sneezed at and I understand that it’s ambitious but I truly believe that together we can smash it. Just imagine the difference we could make. When donated, these funds will go towards services for diagnosed patients and their families (accommodation, transport, education, emotional support, etc) as well as the all-important research to kick this thing to the curb.
Don’t underestimate yourself. Any amount you can donate, big or small, will be so greatly appreciated and make such a difference. I personally can’t wait to do this and I’m so grateful to have you along for the journey with me.
Thank you soo so much for your support and any donations you make,
Love Cate xx
