My Message
On the 12th of April 2022 I was diagnosed with Leukaemia. I am participating in Light the Night to help those like me and work towards further research. - Alanna Smith As the sun sets on Friday, 30 September, I will be taking part in Light the Night so no one in the blood cancer community ever has to feel alone. When blood cancer touches a life, it can feel like the beginning of a long, dark night. Treatment is often complex and urgent. Life-saving care can be far from home. Too many are left feeling overwhelmed and unsure – and isolated. Funds raised through this special event will ensure someone will be there for families through every scary, uncertain moment following a blood cancer diagnosis. Donations also transform fear into hope in miraculous, life-changing ways by furthering the work of brilliant research scientists. Please help me reach my goal by donating to my Light the Night.

Darling Alanna - I don’t know you but I know what you are going through and it breaks my heart because you are such a young woman. Seeing you with your dog made me smile though because I know that my own dog (a beautiful golden retriever named Peppermint) was one of the things I missed most during those long hospital stays and who I especially loved seeing when I came home. I’m sure your dog gives you great joy and comfort too. I am sending you love and light and when I light my lantern on 30 September I will also be thinking of you and your family. :smiling_face_with_3_hearts:
