I’ve set this page up in support of my partner Bec’s son Oliver Kirkland, who has recently been diagnosed with Leukaemia. The Leukaemia Foundation’s Light the Night is a virtual ceremony taking place across Australia on Friday, 30 September. Light the Night is an event for everyone to show support, raise vital funds, and share hope. Everyone can take part — no matter where you live. All you need is access to a screen with an internet connection to join in. During the ceremony, the raising of coloured lanterns symbolises the hope for a future free of blood cancer and the support of a community that understands the darkness a blood cancer brings to our lives. The funds raised by those taking part will help the Leukaemia Foundation light someone’s way through the darkest days following a diagnosis — by providing support for families through every scary, uncertain moment that follows a diagnosis.
