I’m helping to beat blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave!
Hi friends. This is important, it's very close to my heart.
On the 19th of Jan next year, I will be shaving my head for not only the leukaemia foundation, but all forms of "The Big C". I have chosen this date as its my best friend Emma's Birthday, her story is explained below..
I will be doing this at my workplace, whom have shown tremendous support so far.
This year, my very dear friend Emma has been diagnosed with an Osteosarcoma, her battle has inspired me to do anything I can to help.
On 3 August 2022 (her mother's birthday), Emma was diagnosed with an 8x7x5cm sarcoma in her pelvis. She was referred to a specialist the very next day.
Since this time, Emma has undergone numerous scans, biopsies and tests, which have revealed that she has Osteosarcoma of the spine, hip and pelvis.
Emma has commenced 15 weeks of intensive chemotherapy (using three different types of chemo). After 10 weeks, the Medical Team will perform a PET scan. If the chemo has shrunk the cancer, Emma will then require major surgery to remove the tumor(s). It is expected that she will lose a vertabrae in her spine, and require a dramatic reconstruction of her hip and pelvis. If this is successful, Emma will need the aid of a wheelchair, and have long and difficult recovery ahead of her. Following this, Emma will need a further 5 weeks of chemotherapy.
Emma and her 3 young beautiful children and husband live in Gippsland, an hour and a half away from the Medical facilities where Emma will receive her treatment.
My hair means nothing to me anymore, vanity is obsolete in the eyes of my determination to help.
All I want to do is support, raise funds and inspire people to do the same. We all know someone who has been affected by all types of cancer.. our loved ones and friends ect.
I'm doing this for you Emma Trenerry . Also my mum Robyn Jones (who WON her battle with breast cancer a few years ago), my mate Jed who also won the fight as a kid..
This is also for Kristy Telford and Kerrie Toughill, who recently lost their battles with the disease. Bless their souls, your legacies and kind hearts will live on forever.
Please donate and share. Every cent helps.
