I am shaving off my dreadlocks of 10 years in honour of my mate Dan Cutmore. With your generous donations we can help raise awareness of blood cancer and find a cure. In 2020, aged just 38, Dan tragically lost his battle with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia with Philadelphia Chromosome. The battle was hard fought, and Dan had multiple rounds of chemo, radiation, and even a bone marrow transplant. At the time a match could not be found worldwide on the donor transplant list, so Dan's Mum Linda bravely offered herself as a donor. Despite the best medical care available, Dan succumbed to the disease, and the devastating loss is still felt by his family every day. Dan was a talented musician, a loyal friend and all round bloody good bloke. He was a loving son to Linda and Ken and big brother to Zoe. He was a devoted husband to Kristy and family man who also left behind 3 little ones, Haley, 6 years Imogen, 4 years and young Eddie who had just turned 3 when he passed. No family should have to go through what this young family has experienced. Like many Australians diagnosed with blood cancers, Dan fought hard and died far too young. During his treatment the Leukaemia foundation supported his family, at the worst of times by providing accommodation close by to the hospital, allowing them to spend more time with Dan and avoiding the daily 2 hour commute to the RBWH. This support is available because of donations and I urge you to dig deep for this cause. Dan had one simple message throughout his life and his treatment, and that was to love your family, make the most of every moment together, and be thankful for what you have.
