I’m helping to beat blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave!
In January 2008 my beloved Grandpa was one of the 53 Australians who are diagnosed with leukaemia every day. He was determined to beat it and fought extremely hard, but his treatment was unsuccessful, and in April that year he became one of the 16 Australians who lose their life to blood cancer every day.
Over a decade on, my family and I celebrate his memory and legacy but continue to grieve the suffering he endured during his fight, and that he was taken from us before his time should have been up.
Since that time, many of my family, friends and colleagues have also battled cancer, and have not had the choice about whether or not they "be brave and shave".
That's why I've decided to take part in the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave - to support those living with and fighting blood cancer, in hope of helping find better treatments and cures, and in solidarity with those who lose their hair during their cancer treatment journeys.
We know it is a tough time for many financially, but if you can afford to spare any amount, whether that be $5, $15, or $50, your donation, and/or sharing our fundraising page/s, would be very much appreciated and will help an excellent cause.
Thanks for reading and for your support!
