I’m helping to beat blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave!
My name is Ben Ebert. My father is SANFL legend, Russell Ebert. Sadly my dad passed away from Leukaemia in November 2021 following an 11 months battle with the disease - so we all learnt a lot about what it is and experienced first-hand what it does to people and families.
My son Albert wanted to know more about Russell's life and went about interviewing him. His small project gathered momentum and turned into a book, which can be found at https://www.russellebert-geezitsbeenworthit.com/.
This year, I’m getting involved to show my support for the Leukaemia Foundation and the blood cancer community, and in remembrance of my dad.
I want to continue his charity work and try and help raise money and awareness for this very worthy cause which affects over 135,000 Australian families.
I would love to help find a cure, so people don't have to go through the struggles of losing a loved one. The great work the Leukaemia Foundation has already done gave us some options, more time to spend with dad and reassurance.
Shaving my head is a small token of my appreciation.
If you too would like to help support the Leukaemia Foundation, please sponsor me here.
Thank you,
Ben
