I’m helping to beat blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave!
In late 2016 my family and I were personally impacted by blood cancer. Laura and I arrived back home from our honeymoon to find out my dad had been diagnosed with stage 4 leukaemia (multiple myeloma).
2017 was a very rough year as Dad undertook stages of various treatment options which really knocked him around. After two autologous stem cell transplants failed (transplants from himself), he was able to have a successful ground-breaking stem cell transplant from his sister's donated stem cells which has proven effective to date.
But late last year, after five years in remission, Dad was told he has a myeloma 'hot spot' in his pelvis which requires radiation to keep it from spreading.
At the same time I was learning about the challenges that blood cancers of all types, and their brutal treatments, pose to those who suffer. Through Dad's treatment I was inspired by his attitude and bravery. Sadly, I also learned of many people who were just as brave but were unable to overcome this awful disease.
That's why I've decided to take part in the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave.
Every day, 53 Aussies are diagnosed with blood cancer, and 16 will lose their life. With no screening programs available and no means of prevention through lifestyle changes, blood cancer is Australia's hidden cancer crisis.
I'll be raising crucial funds that help give those facing blood cancer all the support and information they need, while driving breakthrough research projects discovering better ways to diagnose and treat blood cancer.
Big or small, every donation counts.
Will you help by sponsoring me?

I will up the level of my shave-game based on the total amount raised:
$500: #4 buzzcut (13mm)
$1,000: #3 buzzcut (10mm)
$2,000: #2 buzzcut (6mm)
$4,000 (GOAL): #1 buzzcut (3mm)
$8,000: All hair gone (0mm)!
$12,000: Mohawk retained for 48 hours with #0 back and sides (then all hair gone)
$20,000: Mullet retained for 72 hours with #0 front and sides (then all hair gone)
