I’m helping to beat blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave!
I have been growing my hair in anticipation for this and to get to the 20cms required to donate it to contribute to the making of a wig for those who need it. For me, it's just hair and I have a choice to shave it or to not. I am choosing to do it on behalf of those who have no choice. With no screening programs available and no means of prevention through lifestyle changes, blood cancer is Australia's hidden cancer crisis. Every day, 53 Aussies are diagnosed with blood cancer, and 16 will lose their life. We can't delay taking action together. That's why I've decided to take part in the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave. I'll be raising crucial funds that help give those facing blood cancer all the support and information they need, while driving breakthrough research projects discovering better ways to diagnose and treat blood cancer. Today I received 2 amazing things from the Leukaemia Foundation. Firstly a lovely personalised msg on my phone congratulating our efforts so far and all within 24 hours! And an email from the Lauren Stacy, a Community Growth and Funding Specialist also from the Leukaemia Foundation with words of praise and encouragement to keep going! I started with a goal of 1k. We smashed it. I upped to to 5k and believe we can do it. So, hey, why not make it 10k?! I don't do things by halves so let's go all the way with this.
