Hey everyone,
Obviously it's been a while since I've had short hair, probably not since at least Year 12! I think most of mates have asked me when I'm getting a haircut for a while, so what better way to do this than fundraise for a very worthy cause !!
Being a current Master of Public Health student, I have a keen interest in promoting upstream changes through primary interventions to decrease the risk of developing non-communicable diseases. Recently, non-communicable diseases have been a major focus in the health sector since many of the risk factors can be decreased through behavioural and environmental changes in your lifestyle. These diseases include cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory illnesses, type 2 diabetes and some cancers. Unfortunately, for leukaemia, with no screening programs available and no means of prevention through lifestyle changes, it is Australia's hidden cancer crisis.
Every day, 53 Aussies are diagnosed with blood cancer, and 16 will lose their life.
We can't delay taking action together.
That's why I've decided to take part in the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave.
I'll be raising crucial funds that help give those facing blood cancer all the support and information they need, while driving breakthrough research projects discovering better ways to diagnose and treat blood cancer.
You have the power to help me make an extraordinary difference.
Big or small, every donation counts.
