I’m helping to beat blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave!
In December 2019, Josh was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He began treatment in 2020, utilising his own bone marrow for a successful transplant, leading to remission shortly after. In mid-2021, it was revealed that Josh had lymphoma, necessitating a donated bone marrow transplant. Since Hobart couldn't provide this treatment, we chose Brisbane for the procedure. Although Josh's sister, the donor, lived in the Sunshine Coast, it wasn't far for her to travel for the procedure to take place.
The transplant procedure initially went well, but unfortunately, his body rejected the cells, leading to our return home in March 2022. Subsequently, Brisbane offered another donated bone marrow transplant, scheduled for November 2022. However, Josh's declining health prevented him from undergoing the procedure.
In gratitude for the support received, our family would like to express thanks to the Leukaemia Foundation for their assistance, including accommodation, transportation, food vouchers, and continued support, even to today.
We invite you to contribute to this worthy cause and join us on March 2nd at The Longley International for a day dedicated to Josh. The event will feature the Great Shave, with participation from Josh's daughter and niece, along with live music, a lucky door prize, raffles, and an auction. We hope to see you there
