I’m helping to beat blood cancer by taking part in the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave!
I'm taking part in the World's Greatest Shave for the Leukaemia Foundation on the 13th of March, 2021.
If you can donate a minute of your time, I would love to use this opportunity to give voice to my brother’s story and his battle with cancer.
On Christmas Eve 2007, my brother, Morgan (age 9) was rushed to the hospital after experiencing kidney failure. After numerous tests, it was on Christmas day that we received the news from the doctor, diagnosing him with Leukaemia.
It was from this day forward, that our lives took a drastic turn for the many years to come. As a family we moved away from home and stayed near the Royal Children’s Hospital. Morgan would have weekly treatments in the hospital – going through procedures that no child should ever be put through.
We met many other families that were going through similar situations, and I know there still are many families today; beginning, battling and/or finishing their journeys with cancer or any other life-threatening illnesses. And the one thing that had and will continue to have a huge impact on any journey, is the immeasurable support from organizations, charities, and foundations.
We are very grateful and fortunate to have received support from these entities and from volunteers that would put their heart and soul into making a difference for these kids and families. It would shed light into the darker days, bringing the community together through a common love of affection.
Whether it be something as big as meeting the Brisbane Broncos, or something as little as receiving a smile from a stranger passing by - it would make a whole world of difference, sometimes a lot more than you could imagine.
My brother is my rock and someone that I will always look up to. I have learnt a lot of as I watched him battle cancer. No matter what he would always find a reason to smile. I want to do my part and give back in any way I can, to help spread awareness of blood cancer and the effects it can have.
Any little bit counts.
By sponsoring me, together we can give families facing blood cancer the emotional and practical support they need.
Thank you !
